Martín Souto Díaz focuses his legal practice in the area of criminal defense, civil rights litigation, and civil matters. He has represented clients in all types of criminal matters before Magistrate District Courts, and the Court of Common Pleas. He is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania State Courts, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has also been admitted pro hac vice to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and the New York Supreme Court on previous occasions.
Attorney Souto Díaz graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras with two Bachelors in Foreign Languages and European History, and received a scholarship to attend the Juris Doctor program at Penn State Law, State College. In law school, he served as an advocate and coach to several Moot Court teams, as well as being on the Moot Court Board during his 3L year. He also worked for Penn State Law’s Immigration Clinic and interned for Chief Judge Sánchez of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining Amori and Associates, Attorney Souto Díaz previously served as law clerk for the Honorable President Judge Margherita Patti-Worthington, where he assisted the Court in a broad range of criminal proceedings and cases, conducting legal research, drafting judicial opinions and memoranda. He had his own practice in Stroudsburg and is currently serving as conflict counsel for the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas, and is pleased to hold the Commonwealth accountable to the Constitution, and help promote the proper functioning of the adversarial system. He is fluent in English and Spanish, while also holding an advance certificate for the German language from the Universität Wien.
Attorney Souto Díaz is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and is on the Publication Committee of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
