How do I know if I need a PFA and what does it cover?
A PFA order can be entered to protect the victim of the abuse, but it can also provide protection for the victim’s children or other family members.
In your petition, we will request the court to order the abuser to stop the abusive behavior toward you and/or your children. We can request the court to order the abuser to be evicted from your joint home or excluded from your residence. We can ask the court for temporary custody of your children. In addition, the PFA order may require the abuser to turn over any weapons in his or her possession over to the sheriff.
